Helping you succeed in the modern world
There is often not enough time in the day to accomplish our goals and care for ourselves. Responsibilities and commitments can be overwhelming. Raising children, pursuing career advancement, helping aging parents, retirement and coping with losses can leave us emotionally depleted. Such stressors and setbacks can feel even more difficult to manage with the state of affairs in the world. These are challenging times and working with a skilled psychologist can help you navigate life with success.
I'm Dr. Brian Wilson. I'm a clinical psychologist and owner of Tampa Palms Psychology. I am focused on helping you cope with the demands of the modern world through compassion, careful listening and various psychotherapeutic methods.
I provide psychotherapy for a broad range of adult mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, stress and relationship concerns. My approach to psychotherapy is personalized, integrative and focuses on tailoring the treatment to your particular circumstances. In addition, I have interests in the following areas:
• Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
• Stress and coping in healthcare providers
• Geriatric mental health
• Caregiver support, particularly those caring for a spouse or parent
• Emotional distress associated with chronic medical problems
• CEO and executive mental health and stress
In-person visits are available at my relaxing office in Tampa Palms, FL and online psychotherapy is offered throughout Florida. In addition, The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact, or PSYPACT, allows me to see clients outside of Florida via telepsychology. An updated map of states that are included in this agreement can be found at psypact.org/page/psypactmap. Currently, PSYPACT includes Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia (DC), Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Please call, text or email me through my website if you wish to schedule an appointment. I offer a free phone consultation so we can decide together if I am the right psychologist for you. Please note that I do not treat anyone under the age of 18.
Medicare is the only insurance plan that is accepted for payment. Most of my clients pay for treatment 'out-of-pocket' and documentation is provided if they wish to pursue out of network reimbursement. Please see the fee schedule below.
I earned a B.S. in psychology from the University of Florida in 1996 and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of North Dakota in 2003. I have 20 years of experience as a clinical psychologist, and have practiced in a variety of settings. My past clinical work has included primary care and community mental health, inpatient psychiatry, residential PTSD treatment, outpatient PTSD treatment, geriatric mental health, and health psychology. I have also provided professional consultation to psychotherapists seeking expertise with PTSD. I am licensed to practice psychology in Florida and Minnesota, and I am a member of the American Psychological Association.
"Very few therapists, in general, have the breadth of experience and expertise in the treatment of trauma as Dr. Wilson. Very few psychologists, in particular, also have his level concern for clinical care and ethical standards on behalf of clients. I am pleased to count him among my most trusted colleagues."-Michael J. Poff, MA, MSW, The Carter-Jenkins Center for Psychoanalytic Studies
There is hope and joy to be had despite the challenges you face. Please contact me if you would like to schedule a consultation. Evening and weekend hours are available for your convenience.
